Meet the team

DMD was made by a team of 4 Carnegie Mellon students, as part of the Master’s in Human-Computer Interaction capstone project. Here is a little information about each of us.

Sam Hashemi

User Research Lead
www.samhashemi.com

He began his undergraduate career as an electrical engineer, but soon realized people were more interesting than circuits, and completed his undergraduate degree in Cognitive Science and Human-Computer Interaction at Carnegie Mellon University. Sam is our User Research Lead, responsible for managing and coordinating our busy user research and testing schedule.

Jaanus Kase

Jaanus Kase

Project Lead & Tech Lead
www.jaanuskase.com

His most recent adventure before Carnegie Mellon was at Skype, where he developed a deeper interest in HCI foundations and practices. Jaanus is the Project Manager of DMD, responsible for administration, communication and pacing of the project. Jaanus is also the project's Technical Lead, responsible for the prototype's technical architecture and implementation.

Jackie Weber

Jackie Weber

Website Lead & Documentation Lead
www.jackieweber.net

She graduated from Wellesley College in 2007 with a degree in Cognitive and Linguistic Science, along with a minor in Psychology. Her training in HCI will help her design software that will be enjoyable and easy to use. Jackie is our Documentation Lead and Web Master. She ensures that our reports and other deliverables are of the highest quality.

Elliott Williams

Elliott Williams

Design Lead

He graduated from MIT with a degree in Brain and Cognitive Science in 2004. With most of his classes involving Cognitive Science, Computer Science, and Arts and Architecture, Human Computer Interaction seemed like the next logical step. Elliott is the project’s Design Lead, responsible for the conceptual and visual design of the project artifacts.

And meet the clients

The project is sponsored by the University of Pittsburgh Center for Dental Informatics (CDI), part of University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine. CDI is one of the top research centers for dental informatics. In particular, our project clients include Assistant Professor Thankam Thyvalikakath and Associate Professor and CDI Director Titus Schleyer , both experts in the field.
